Step 1 - Contact
Getting started is simple and obligation-free

You can begin the process in one of two ways. You may complete a Free Search form on our website, or in some cases we may contact you directly if our searches indicate you could have unclaimed monies in your name.
If you submit a Free Search request, we review the details you provide and assess whether there is a potential match with unclaimed funds held by a government department, financial institution, company, or other holding authority.
There is no cost to check and you are not obligated to proceed if we contact you. At this stage, we simply confirm whether unclaimed monies may exist and whether a claim is worth progressing.
Step 2 - Letter of Authority
Your written consent allows us to act on your behalf.
If unclaimed money is identified, we will ask you to complete a Letter of Authority. This document gives My Refund Finder formal permission to act on your behalf when dealing with government agencies, financial institutions, or other organisations holding the funds.
The Letter of Authority is a standard, legally recognised document in Australia. It allows us to request information, lodge claims, and follow up on your behalf, while ensuring your personal information is handled appropriately and in accordance with Australian laws.
At this stage, our no win – no fee arrangement is clearly outlined. Our fee is 20% (plus GST) of any funds successfully recovered. If no money is recovered, no fee is payable.

Step 3 - Review
We carefully review and verify all documentation before proceeding.

Once the Letter of Authority has been completed, our team conducts a detailed review of your information and supporting documentation. This step ensures all details are accurate, complete and meet the requirements of the organisation holding the funds.
All personal information and identification documents are uploaded through a secure, encrypted client portal. This system is designed to protect your data and ensure sensitive documents are handled safely and confidentially at all times.
We verify identity, entitlement and any additional information needed to support the claim. If further documentation or clarification is required, we will contact you and guide you through what is needed. Nothing is submitted until all requirements are satisfied.
Step 4 - Claim
We lodge and manage the claim on your behalf.
Once all documentation has been reviewed and verified, My Refund Finder acts as your authorised refund agent and formally lodges the claim with the organisation holding the funds.
We handle all required paperwork, correspondence and follow-ups throughout the claim process. This includes responding to requests, clarifying information where needed, and ensuring the claim progresses as efficiently as possible.
By acting on your behalf, we help remove the complexity and administrative burden involved in recovering unclaimed money, allowing you to avoid dealing directly with multiple organisations.

Step 5 - Communication
We keep you informed throughout the process.

Once a claim has been lodged, we manage all ongoing communication with the organisation holding the funds. This includes responding to enquiries, providing additional information where required, and following up on the progress of the claim.
Throughout this stage, we keep you informed of any updates or requests and let you know if further documentation is needed. You are not required to contact the organisation directly unless specifically advised.
Timeframes can vary depending on the type of asset, the organisation holding the funds, and how quickly required information is provided. While some claims may be resolved within weeks, others can take longer. We will keep you informed throughout the process and advise you if any additional information is needed to help progress the claim.
Step 6 - Refund
Recovered funds are paid to you securely and transparently.
Once the claim has been finalised and funds are released, the recovered money is paid to you directly in accordance with the requirements of the holding authority.
Depending on the organisation holding the funds, recovered monies may be issued directly to you or processed via our trust account in accordance with applicable requirements.
Our agreed fee is deducted only after funds have been successfully recovered. You will receive clear confirmation of the amount recovered and the final payment issued to you.
